Homecoming ©

Wayward... Ruthlessly severing, in a momentary sway,
Your gentle, loving  leashes of principles pure
Into counterfeit well-being, I'd wandered away.

I've experienced ecstasy, beguiling pleasures unbound!
But when I opened my eyes to actuality,
I craved for a stable ground.

Alas! There was none that I could find.
For some delights can just make you fly,
But don't assure a safe haven to bind.

And I fell... Onto Reality's coldest ground, maimed
Breaking every bit of my brittle soul.
Confidence deprived; honour defamed.

The one vital sense that's not yet tainted
Is a meagre flame of conscience,
That's  flickered even after rationality sordidly fainted.

With every bit, every photon of that hopeful ray
I beg; Take me back in you endearing proximity,
Repair the ties I broke; from this hell, keep me at bay...

I wish to be with you forever, I now surmise
Safe and sound, devoid of the demonic deceits
For I've wondered way too much, in a false paradise...
